Utah WORC's Brian hooked up with Craig Wesner and Steve Hlebo for the ride out to Utah. Craig had school on Friday morning causing them to get a late start. They finally arrived at about six on Saturday and still weren't close to being the first one there. Brian raced the 250 race on Saturday. He was trying to make a pass on the first lap when he had a close call jumping over a 15 foot deep ravine that he never even saw. His bike was still rich even after guessing at jetting at home so he pulled it in and did some mid race maintenance to get his bike dialed in. Criag Wesner held up the district honor pulling a third place behind motocrosser Jeff Willoh and Russ Pearson. In the pro race Brian kept his streak alive, managing to stall his bike on the last three live engine starts that he has done. Coming through the dust was tough and Brian was one of the only people moving up through the clouds of dust. Ty Davis won his second WORC's race in a row ,with a 35 mph speed average, ahead of Mike Kiedrowski who was stalking just out of Ty's dust all day about 15 second back. Ty holds a small points lead over defending champ Mike Kiedrowski halfway though the series. Russ Pearson ran close to the leading duo all day for third, and is looking due for a win here soon. Kurt Caselli brought his KTM to the fourth spot ahead of the another Pearson, Nick. Brian was next, with Steve Hatch latched behind Brian for most of the race moving up through the pack into the sixth and seventh spots. All in all it was a pretty good race but Brian is looking forward to racing the next round in Washougal and getting out of the desert. |
