Texas Hare Scramble/ GNCC The Hare Scramble and GNCC series started early this year in the state of Texas. The race was located in the same place where the WORCS race was last year so Brian knew what to expect. Unfortunately for him he was not 100% since cracking his hip three weeks before the start of these series. There was a stacked field on the Pro row with about 40 guys going for the win. Jimmy Jarrett led the first lap ahead of Steve Hatch on his new Kawi right ahead of Rodney Smith, Mike Kiedrowski, and Barry Hawk. Brian was doing well considering his situation. A couple of riders had some problems during the race. Shane Watts crashed hard into a tree and crushed his pipe flat. He came back to the pits and changed him pipe but soon after his bike quit due to the wires being melted to his ignition. Jason Raines also had a bad get off and broke his shoulder but has a chance at coming back by the second round in Florida. Steve Hatch took control of the race and opened up a small lead ahead of Kiedrowski, Rodney, and the hard charging Hawk. Hatch then had a crash on a hill close to the finish allowing the pursuers to get by. Rodney seemed to outsmart everyone again, making the rest of the guys do most of the work for most of the race then made a late charge to take the win by just a few seconds over Kiedrowski, and Hawk. Hatch recovered for fourth. Brian did his best and finished just out of the top ten in 11th place.
