Lorretta Lynn Hare Scramble/GNCC The race in Tennessee is always one of the toughest on the schedule. It is brutally rough in the woods and is always the first race of the year where the heat and humidity become a factor. Brian came into the race all jazzed up because he had the lead in the Hare Scrambles series and had ridden every day during the week. It had rained during the week in Tennessee and that left the course a little soggy but pretty good. At this race the first lap you go around and it looks pretty good then on the second lap there are a bunch of ruts that are like bogs and really slow down your bike. The best thing to do is look for a way around and therefore there are lines going all over in lots of the tree sections. Lafferty got off to another good start and led the pack at the beginning of the race. Mike Kiedrowski and Jason Raines were right on him for the first couple of laps until Jason Raines passed them both and took the lead then rode away from the field posting the fasted lap of the race on the fifth of sixth when most were dead tired. In doing so Jason extended his points lead and is a serious contender for the title this year. Kiedrowski and Lafferty held onto second and third respectfully, with Rodney Smith and Barry Hawk rounding out the top five. As for Brian he couldn't get it together and was disappointed with his ride finishing in 12th. He said he just couldn't ride and didn't know why. He said he wasn't tired and had rode during the week and felt great. However he did keep the points lead in the Hare Scramble series. Fred Andrews who was in second failed to finish and Jason Raines took over second in the Hare Scrambles points after three races.
