Prairie City

The first race of the 2009 season was uncharacteristically warm and dry for January at Prairie City.  Brian was at the first round of the WORCS race so I went to the race by myself.  There was a strong turnout for the race with over seven hundred riders attending the event.  When the gun went off we ran to our bikes Lemans style and I got off around mid pack.  I worked myself up to the fourth and could see Brian Sperle, Jordan Brandt, and Robert Underwood were all mixing it up for the lead.  I was a little cautious the first couple of laps and let those guys get away from me.  I started to pick up the pace later in the race and got a gift when Sperle had trouble with his clutch and had to come in for repairs.  Jordan took control of the lead and Underwood had a really strong D-36 race taking the runner up spot.  I stayed off the ground all day finishing in the third spot.
