Patriot GNCC

The race at the Patriot GNCC in Virginia was sandier and tighter than a normal GNCC.  Brian switched off the four stroke in favor of a 250 2 stroke for this race.  Once again Fred Andrews got out front on the first lap ahead of teammates Rodney Smith and Doug Blackwell.  On the second lap Jason Raines made some passes and went from fifth to first in one lap.  Another rider who was on the move was Shane Watts.  Shane was going fast but crashed quite a few times.  He would catch back up to the leaders after a crash until one time he crashed really hard in a mud hole and had to call it a day.  Also on the gas was Randy Hawkins.  Since this race was a little tighter than normal Randy was right at home in the trees and had a good race for the lead, moving as high as second during the race.  After riding so strong at the last race just 11 days post surgery for a collar bone injury Summers had to pull out early in this one with a blown shock.  Brian was struggling on the 2 stroke.  He had his suspension set up the same as his 450 and the difference in weight made a big difference in performance on the choppy track.  Rodney and Jason had a great race between the two of them with Jason taking the upper hand for the second race in a row.  Rodney was second followed by Mike Kiedrowski.  Randy Hawkins held onto fourth with Fred Andrews, Robbie Jenks, Doug Blackwell, Steve Hatch, Cole Calkins, and Nathan Kanney rounding out the top ten.  Brian just missed out on the top ten but had to settle with 11th.
