Ohio Qualifier 2000

We flew back out to Jersey to pick up the van and started heading for the Ohio Qualifier.  It had rained pretty hard the week before the event and in Ohio that means it is going to be slick and nasty.  We met up with other D-36 riders; Steve Silvestri, Cole Marshall, Lance Mandarino, Glenn, Martinson, Brian Spearle, and Theron Miller.  We took over the best pit spot that is a snack bar for other races and has a big roof on it in case it rains.  Brain was going to ride Shane Watts 125 for the weekend so we had to wait for him to show up before we could hurry up and get through impound.  We got started Saturday morning and had a dual sport ride out to the Grass Track.  It was fresh grass the first time around with Brian being the second one on the track.  Both Brian and I got top five fastest times on the grass track.  The special tests in Ohio are pretty gnarly.  They aren’t like six days terrain test at all.  We both did all right in them but nothing special.  Brian was so early through the first one that he had trouble following the trail on a couple of occasions.  We ended up with Brian in fifth and I was sixth after the first day but  I went into a check a minute early to ride with G-Man and Destry Abbott but there is a new rule that says we have to stay on our minute that no one new about so it ended up costing me a route point.  For Sunday Brian had it rough right off the bat.  He was on the second row out and some people tore down the ribbons for the trail and cut down some trees so the trail was impassable.  Brian got lost with the rest of the 125 riders for about half an hour but they took away any route points lost because it wasn’t their fault.  For results everything was messed up on Sunday.  Everyone from Ohio had one test where they beat everyone by minutes so something weird happened.  The club said they couldn’t do anything so results ended up being meaningless.  Both Brian I felt we rode better on Sunday so we have to let it be at that.
