Moose Run The gun goes off and all the racers take off, but Brian. Why? Because this is the Moose Run, a race more about survival than speed. Brian and Tim Taber from Fun Mart Cycles got together and came up with a strategy to survive this race. They teamed up and made sure each other made it over each log and through each mud hole. It was a little dryer than normal but what was lost in mud was made up for in log crossings. Brian and Tim rode conservatively the first three laps and were in about tenth place, then slowly began moving forward. With log crossings two feet above the ground and thick grass that couldn't be seen though the pace was slow, mainly first and second gear. About three laps into the race people started to have problems and Brian began to pick people off. With two laps to go he got around Ty Davis for fourth place. Ty later said he was tired of picking his bike up and was on survival mode. On the last lap Brian had the fastest lap time and also got around Matt Stavish for third. Chuck Woodford felt comfortable in the condition, which are much like the woods he practices in and won another Moose Run. Jimmy Jarret kept him honest all day for second. Brian and Tim came in third and fourth respectively, followed by Stavish and Davis. With a third place finish Brian kept third in the WORCS overall series points and still leads the eastern division. |
