Michigan Hare Scramble

After winning the last round in Oregon Brian was looking forward to the next Hare Scramble at the Dutch Motorsports Park in Michigan.  Having ridden the event before Brian knew what to expect going into the race, heat.  The track however is better than the summer Michigan weather, with a great motocross track which is freshly graded so it is super loamy for the start.  The woods are typical eastern conditions with some rolling hills, logs, and mud. In the past there has been a really good grass track in the back but this year it was down to just a one lined dusty field section.  Brian got off to a decent start and was quickly into third place behind Fred Andews and Chuck Woodford.  Brian tried hard to catch up to Andrews but Chucky was tough to get around and he never got a shot.  He ended up overheating, stopping to get cold water out of the ice chest himself a couple of times during the race.  Blair Bersano ended up getting pass Brian to take third for the second year in a row.  Local D-36 rider Eric DuCray also passed Brian for his best national finish to date.  Brian held on for fifth, but lost valuable points toward the championship.
