Michigan National Hare Scramble

It was hot and humid when we arrived in Michigan.  A thunderstorm the night before left us perfect traction but all of the moisture up in the great lakes area makes it really muggy.  The Dutch Sports Park puts a lot of effort into the race and it features a motocross track that is disked and loamy with all of the sand in Michigan.  There was a small line of AA riders but I managed to get a bad jump off of the line and was trailing. Brian was second rounding the first turn behind Fred Andrews but Shane Esponito passed them both in the motocross section.  I passed a three riders and was trying to rail around the outside of a corner when my bike just sank in the loam and I did a slow motion trip over the bars.  I got up but my bike was pretty well struck and it took a lot of work to get it out.  By that  time the AA riders were off the track and the second row was on my tail.  I charged ahead in hopes of catching the pack.  Brian inherited the lead but did not feel comfortable in the tight trees but the humidity was hurting him worse.  A couple of times Jimmy Jarrett caught him a Brian would let him go but in the unfamiliar wood Jarrett would make a mistake giving Brian have the point position once again.  Brian led for the first lap then Fred Andrews and Jason Raines got by him for the lead.  They would sick together for the rest of the day fighting for the lead.  I passed a few riders and got into fifth place but the riders in front of me were already gone so I had a lonely day of riding by myself.  At the finish Fred Andrews was the first to the checkered flag, with Jason Raines close behind.  Blair Bersano was third and they had Bryan Dunlap in fourth but were calling his name after the race so we will have to see if that stands.  Next was Brian and then I was a little bit behind him.  Shane Watts was leading the series but had to go back down under so Fred Andrews is leading now.  Brian made up some ground on Shane and should be close to him in points with me another handful back in fourth.
