Lorretta Lynn's GNCC This was a combined Hare Scramble and GNCC and Brian was pumped up for the race partially since he is leading the Hare Scrambles series. This race in notoriously rough and the first warm race of the year which turns it into a race of survival. For once Brian got a really good start in third place right behind Shane Watts who grabbed the holeshot. It didn't last long for either of them with Shane going down in the third turn and Brain crashing in the fifth turn. He didn't drop all the way back in the pack and finished the first lap in sixth spot. Watts, Kiedrowski, and Barry Hawk all passed Brian on the second lap dropping him back a few spots. Brian kept going strong though knowing that finishing strong at this race is important. Rodney Smith pretty much had a hold on the lead during the race. Jason Raines and Fred Andrews were right there for most of the race. Shane was working his way up to the front when a lap rider swapped in front of him which resulted in a broken case in the accident. About halfway through the race Brian heard a four stroke coming up behind him that was none other than Scott Summers just nine days post surgery from a broken collar bone. Jason Raines and Rodney Smith came into the motocross track with Jason in the lead and Rodney right on his tail. Rodney put his moto skills to use and made the pass to keep his win streak in tack for his third win in a row. Jason was second, then Fred Andrews, Steve Hatch, Doug Blackwell, Scott Summers, and Barry Hawk. Brian was putting in a strong last lap with his Hare Scramble Chuck Woodford right on his tail. Brian held Chuck off the whole last lap until the ten commandments where Chucky jumped passed Brian with just three corners left. Brian was exhausted by that point and was disappointed that Woodford snuck by him so near to the end. |
