Kahoka Hare Scramble Absolutely perfect conditions greeted the riders this year at the Kahoka National Hare Scramble. The races in Kahoka are always some of Brian's favorite back east and he has always done well at the track. In addition Brian has made it to a few practice days on the motocross track and now feels comfortable on the track which is always prepped well and has lots of sawdust added to make it supper loamy especially in the first couple of laps. Cole Caukins grabbed the holeshot this year followed by Jason Raines, Shane Watts, Josh McLevy and Brian. Jason Raines got into the lead just a couple of miles into the race but was the guinea pig going into a mudhole and picked the wrong line and stuck himself in mud up to the fenders. Josh Mclevy ran into problems early on when his tire came off the rim which resulted in a DNF for Josh. Brian made a pass on Cole which put him into second behind Shane Watts, who was trying to get away from the field. Shane isn't sure how it happened but he ran out of gas much earlier than he expected which put Brian into the lead. Brian led for a couple laps until he came into the pits for gas and was passed by Jason, Shane, Chuck Woodford and Cole during his fuel stop. After the fuel stop Brian charged ahead hoping to get into the lead but only managed to get by Woodford who got tired near the end of the race. The course is always fun in Kahoka and the lines through the woods were really good this year with the traction. |
