Havasu WORC's Brian made the trip down to Havasu with his girl friend, Brooke, and were going to pick Craig Wesner up at the side of highway 5. Criag called and said that he was there and Brian had just left the house about 30 minutes earlier. They did the team race together on Saturday and took the win. The course was just three miles long. It wound around a small area and dropped down into the lake about axel deep. There was some deep whoops and some rocky sections and was supposed to be pretty off road oriented. The turn out for the race was supposed to be respectable and for the pro race there was about fifty pro's. For the Pro Race there was not gate so the race started with everyone putting their hand on their head with the motor running. Brian kept him lousy live engine starting streak going and once again stalled his engine on the start. I don't have much news on the race due to a bad cell phone connection but heard that Destry Abbott hurt his shoulder pretty badly. Steve Hatch also crashed and DNF'ed but was alright. Ty Davis lapped up to fifth place taking the win. Mike Kiedrowski kept his points lead with a second place finish, ahead of Ty's win and third at the first round. Russ Pearson continued his fine riding with a third, then Rodney Smith and Robert Naughton. Brian and Kurt Caselli have had a running bet going since last year at Laughlin. Whoever lost out of the two at Laughlin couldn't cut his hair until he beat the other, and Kurt won that race overall. Well the first round of the series was postponed and Kurt beat Brian in Phoenix so Brian had some extra motivation and long hair going into this race and wanted a hair cut before summer. Brian worked his way up though the pack after his bad start and caught and passed Caselli for sixth on the last lap. Caselli held on to seventh, just ahead of David Pearson. Happy St. Patrick's Day
