Golendale WORCS

When pulling up to the race in Washington Brian, Nate Kinney and myself could hardly hold in our excitement.  The track looked really neat.  The track was basically a big GP graded grass track.  When the open race started I soon found out that it was a fast track.  All of the corners were wide sweepers which were mostly third gear corners with fourth and fifth gear straighaways.  It was absolutely perfect traction and was a fun race.  It took me awhile to get up to speed but Brian and Nate seemed to adjust quickly.  A few laps from the end I saw both Brian and Nate on the side of the track.  After I found out that both of them had run out of gas.  I refueled during the hour fifteen minute race and was still low on gas at the conclusion of the race which I finished seventh in.

Sunday brought out another nice day and by talking to the locals this was the best weather and track conditions that anyone had ever seen at the track before.  I lined up in a good spot on the inside and Brian was a few spots to the outside right next to the starting box.  Neither of us got a really good start but Brian was doing well by passing lots of riders early on.  He passed me about a mile into the race and looked like he was riding fast.  The motocrossers were right at home at this one with Ty Davis, Nathan Woods, Bobby Bonds, and Lance Smail all at the head of the pack.  A few laps into the race Bonds passed the frontrunners and pulled away.  Woods took control of second with Ty Davis and Robert Naughton battling for third.  Brian made his was up into the top ten.  I was running down Nate Dog who had passed me on the second lap and made a pass right before the halfway point.  I had to pit twice during the race and went through about half of my third tank.  Three laps from the end I had some clutch problems which dropped me a couple of positions by the finish I believe outside the top twenty.  Brian worked his way up as far as he could which was to ninth spot.
