Georgia GNCC

Brian missed the button at the start of the race in Georgia and got a last place start.  He made a mad dash towards the front and got up to eighth by the end of the first lap.  Jason Raines was out front early and opened up a lead over the rest of the pack.  To the crowds delight Scott Summers was near the front of the pack and looking strong in his comeback at the first typical GNCC terrain race.  Everyone was going fast all day with the lap times for the top ten being within twenty seconds of each other.  Brian was passed by Fred Andrews but rode behind him for over a lap.  Later Rodney Smith passed Brian and blew his mind with how fast he was going.  Rodney passed Brian right before a rough section that had about six ruts to choose from.  Rodney skipped through the the bumps and never really dropped down into the ruts.  He was out of sight two turns later.  Steve Hatch also passed Brian but his technique was quite different.  He would crash, come flying pass Brian, crash again and get up before Brian would get there and was off swapping off of trees on the next straightaway.  Brian was amazed because one crash as hard as the many he saw Steve have would have put him either out of the race or way back, but the crashes didn't really seem to effect Steve.  Brian then hooked up with Destry Abbott and the two of them rode a couple of laps together.  Brian said that Destry looked good in one of his rare trips to the East coast.  With a lap to go Brian had a hard crash with a lapper.  He hit the lapper wide open in 4th gear and got rocked pretty hard.  His knee was hurting and he had some nasty burns from the exhaust but he managed to get up and put on a last lap charge.  Destry and Randy Hawkins both passed Brian when he crashed.  Brian caught and passed Hawkins then caught Destry then hit a fallen tree when he picked a bad line to trying to pass.  He later managed to get around Destry then caught up to Cole Caukins at the finish.  Jason Raines had a day he said he could do no wrong and ran away from the field for the win.  Scott Summers made the crowd happy with his first podium on his comeback and is looking strong for the year.  Robbie Jenks crashed on the first lap and came back to run second for most of the race before Summers caught him at the end.  He had his first podium in about a year and has been looking good this year.  Next was Blackwell, Mike Kiedrowski, Fred Andrews, Steve Hatch, Chuck Woodford, Barry Hawk, and Cole Caukins rounded out the top ten.  Brian was right behind Cole for 11th.
