Florida GNCC This year the GNCC kicked off in a new location and did it get broken in. The race was called the Hurricane and it lived up to its name with some heavy rain taking place the night before the race that left the track more resembling a swamp buggy track than a motorcycle track. Brian got off to a bad start falling in the first corner but got up and quickly began passing riders and riding like the mud monster. He passed the entire field on the first lap and was the first rider to find his way around the track. Three other riders Rodney Smith, Mike Lafferty, and Fred Andrews were leading the way but apparently followed some arrows from the previous days quad race which looped them back to midpack. Brian led for a lap until Jason Raines found a hot line and got by. Brian had worn out his brake pads by then and pulled in for a quick change. In the process he dropped back to third place. It didn't matter though because on the next lap his bike had enough and quit running on him. Barry Hawk did the best job at avoiding problems and started the season off right with a big win. Robbie Jenks scored his best finish to date with a second, followed by Raines. |
