Coalinga National Enduro

For the second round of the FMF National Enduro Series we were in familiar territory at Clear Creek.  With the weather that we had during the week the original course was under a deep blanket of snow so we were stuck with the rain course for the weekend.  We rode the same roads for both the first and second loops.  It was really easy and we didn't even ride a trail for the entire loop.  The third loop was supposed to be really tough but it was only a twelve mile loop with about a nine mile special test.  I put on a fresh Maxxis back tire for the loop and was ready to go for the win.  Lafferty dropped the lowest time with a five something.  I crashed on the last turn before the checkout and was stuck under my bike in a creek knowing that my chance to win was disappearing.  I ended up with a 6:03.  I really wanted to win one of the hometown races at either Hollister or Clear Creek and not winning either is a little disappointing.   Brian didn't have a really good ride having problems with timekeeping and never really found his groove.    G-Man was on the gas all day but brain faded on the way out on the third loop and was three minutes late at the check in.  In the end I ended up in sixth which I am not very happy about.  I feel that I can outride anyone at Clear Creek and getting into two checks with :03 is frustrating as is the whole enduro concept.
